About Sharon
Voted '1 in 30 most amazing women in the UK' by Take a Break Magazine, previously a successful Project Manager, sadly lost my career after being diagnosed with chronic illness Fibromyalgia, following a car accident in 2016.
Refusing to be hindered by limitations, I have achieved recognition as a multi-award-winning founder of the nonprofit charity, The Luca Foundation. As a grief management specialist, I provide support to businesses from small and large, helping their employees navigate various types of grief. Additionally, I am an author, public speaker, keynote speaker, and podcaster. With a special recognition of the 'Points of Light' Award from the Prime Minister.
I am Founder of Award winning nonprofit charity The Luca Foundation, in memory of my son Luca, who's name we later added to our surname as we promised to keep his name and memory alive. I am often now known as 'Sharon Luca'.
The Luca Foundation, provides cold cuddle cots to NHS Maternity Units, NICU and Pediatrics wards across the UK to allow bereaved families to spend longer with their babies to say their goodbyes. The equipment preserves the child's body for them to stay longer with their family. This is something that is needed by families immediately after the passing of the child.
If it is not available at that moment, the chance is passed. Our aim is in ensure that this equipment is widely available to hand as soon as it is needed. I refer to this as the 'Gift of Time'. Something that we did not have when Luca passed away but want to ensure no else has to suffer the way we did
I have written a book for children that explains bereavement whilst protecting their mental health, inspired by my real life conversation with my younger son, when he asked how his older brother died, titled 'Why did Grandad Die'. Available from https://thelucafoundation.org.uk/shop-2
I have also written my story and how I found life again after Luca died & again after my diagnosis titled, 'Angel Warrior: Life after Loss', available via https://lkecostyle.com/product-category/angel-warrior-range with 10% going to my charity
I will not stop here and continue to as much as I can within my limits to support people through bereavement, mental health issues & break the silence on talking about loss
